To set up your webcam, please follow these steps:
Download and install the most recent drivers for your video device. If your video camera does not have drivers for Mac OS X, please use these drivers.
Select your video device in Skype under Skype > Preferences > Audio/Video. This step is not required if you have an Apple iSight. You can set your video privacy settings in Skype > Preferences > Privacy.
The minimum system requirements for Skype 5.0 for Mac are:
- 1GHz Intel processor
- Mac OS X v10.5.8 (Leopard) or newer
- For one-to-one voice calls recommend broadband connection with 1Mbps down / 256 kbps up
- For group video (beta) recommend broadband connection with 4Mbps down / 1 Mbps up
- 100 MB free disk space
- Either USB or regular headset if your Mac does not have a built-in microphone
Suggested webcams include Apple iSight, Philips SPC900NC, or Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000.
Video and call quality may vary greatly in environments in conditions that do not meet these recommendations. Please be sure that your webcam is connected and not being used by another program.
